Bizarre Habits That Cost Floyd Mayweather Thousands of Dollars Every Year

Floyd Mayweather Jr is widely regarded as the best boxer ever, having won an impressive fifty fights with zero defeats over the course of his twenty-one-year professional career. Floyd won multiple titles and beat some of the best boxers of his era, including Manny Pacquiao and a young Saul Canelo Alvarez. Over the course of his career, he earned the nickname “Money” for being the highest-paid athlete in the world, amassing a huge fortune of more than $1 billion. He would earn tens of millions in every fight, as people would always tune in to see if he could be stopped.

As a result of being a billionaire and one of the richest athletes of all time, Mayweather has some unusual habits when it comes to spending money. He takes his nickname very literally and regularly splashes his cash on questionable purchases. He was anything but an eccentric in the ring, but outside of it, he enjoys showing off and enjoying the fruits of his hard work. Here are a few of the strange spending habits of Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Gambling

As a boxer, every time Floyd stepped into the ring, he was gambling with his health, and his risk-taking behaviour is what led him to such a successful career. Now he’s retired, he probably misses that feeling of risking it all for big wins, and that’s why he enjoys gambling so much. Floyd spends a lot of his time in Las Vegas and spends time playing online slots by SPCasinos. He regularly places big bets on sports, including betting on boxing. You can often see his bet slips on his Twitter, where he shows off million-dollar wins to his followers. He almost certainly loses from time to time as well, but those are rarely shown.

Underwear

Interestingly, it seems as though Floyd has a strange habit when it comes to underwear. Multiple sources have reported that Mayweather hates wearing the same pair of underwear twice, choosing instead to wear a clean pair every day and throw the old ones away. Maybe Floyd never heard of a washing machine, or perhaps he simply loves the feel of a pair of underwear fresh out of the packet.

Watches

Luxury watches may not be a particularly bizarre habit, especially for someone with as much money as Floyd. Still, the retired boxer certainly spends more on watches than most people will ever spend in their lifetimes. His latest purchase, dubbed the billionaire watch, cost him roughly $18 million when he bought it in 2018. The delicate piece of jewellery boasts 260-carat diamonds, which are arranged in a pyramid structure. In total, this glitzy timepiece features 239 emerald-cut baguette diamonds and is the second iteration of a model that first debuted in 2015. The dial is composed of 18-carat white gold and has various other distinguishing features. It has a tourbillon escapement and skeletonized movement.

Private Jet

Most celebrities charter private jets to get around, especially if they lead jet-setting lifestyles. However, once you have as much money as Mayweather, it’s cheaper just to buy your own plane. The Gulfstream G650, dubbed Air Mayweather, is one of the most luxurious planes in the sky. It can reach a top speed of 650 mph because of its twin-engine technology. The $60 million aerial vehicles can transport up to 15 people at the same time. The plane is completely custom made with plenty of design features added by the boxer to make it unique. It’s unclear how much the upkeep of the jet costs, but it’s supposedly not cheap, considering it requires a crew to man it.
