Spence On Crawford: We Gonna Roll Him Up And Smoke Him!

BEVERLY HILLS, California -- Errol Spence Jr. and Terence Crawford have promised boxing fans that their superfight will be an old-fashioned cookout, but only one man will end up getting smoked.

Crawford vowed that he would leave T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, the site of their July 29 Showtime Pay-Per-View main event as the sport's first male undisputed world champion in two different weight divisions in the four-belt era. Spence plans to derail those aspirations.

“Y’all go to ESJTheTruth.com and go buy that pack, man,” Spence said during their official press conference Tuesday afternoon at the Beverly Hills Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. "We gonna roll him up and smoke him.

“It's legal in Vegas. We gonna roll him up and smoke this dude."

Spence and Crawford will attempt the seventh title defenses of their respective reigns. Crawford has held the WBO welterweight title since June 2018 and has scored knockouts wins in all seven of his 147-pound title fights, while Spence has been a unified champion since September 2019. He added a third belt to his collection with a knockout win over Yordenis Ugas last year.

History is a two-way street in this mouthwatering matchup. Crawford aims to become the first two-division undisputed champion in the four-belt era, and Spence is attemping to become the first male to beat four reigning world champions en route to becoming undisputed. The only other fighter to complete the trifecta is Ireland's Katie Taylor, who defeated four defending 135-pound titleholders to become undisputed champion.

Spence, a 33-year-old southpaw hasn’t fought since defeating Ugas last April 16 at AT&T Stadium, home of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys. Crawford last fought fought December 10 in his hometown of Omaha, Nebraska, where he annihilated David Avanesyan in six rounds.

“Everybody know this the best fighter in the world no matter who win,” insisted Spence. “This the crème de la crème right here.”
