Callum Walsh to face Velasco, Navarro pulls out

In the scheduled ten-round main event set for Saturday, August 26 at the Commerce Casino in Los Angeles, CA, and with global broadcast coverage on UFC Fight Pass, 'King' Callum Walsh hailing from Cork, Ireland (7-0, 6 KOs) is gearing up for the first defense of his WBC US Silver super welterweight title. He will be squaring off against 'El Pitbull' Juan Jose Velasco from Buenos Aires, Argentina (24-4, 15 KOs).

Initially slated to face Livan Navarro, Walsh faced a change in plans due to Navarro's training injury that forced him to withdraw from the title match. Stepping up to the challenge is the seasoned Velasco, known for his battles against world champions and top contenders such as Regis Prograis, Zachary Ochoa, Elvis Rodriguez, and Mario Berrios. After a closely contested split decision loss to Flavius Blea on May 5, 2023, in Mioveni, Romania, Velasco is eager to rebound with a victory against the esteemed Walsh.

Promoter Tom Loeffler commented, "Though Livan Navarro's injury was unfortunate, Juan Jose Velasco poses yet another formidable obstacle for Callum Walsh."

Loeffler further added, "Stay tuned for more thrilling fight announcements as we approach the event on August 26 at the Commerce Casino, with broadcast coverage on UFC Fight Pass. Tickets for this event are selling rapidly, and I urge fans to secure their seats well in advance to ensure entry on fight night."

Trained under the guidance of Hall of Famer Freddie Roach at the renowned Wild Card Boxing Gym in Hollywood, CA, the 22-year-old southpaw sensation Walsh claimed the WBC US Silver super welterweight title through a commanding performance, halting world title contender Carson Jones in the fourth round before a capacity crowd at the Commerce Casino on June 9.
