Amanda Serrano 12x3min rounds set to break the barriers for Women's Boxing

Amanda "The Real Deal" Serrano, a seven-division champion and the undisputed featherweight champion with a record of 45-2-1 and 30 KOs, is scheduled to face her mandatory challenger, Danila "A Guerreira" Ramos, who boasts a record of 12-2 with 1 KO. This highly anticipated showdown will take place on Friday, October 27th, at the Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando, Florida.

Before the Serrano vs. Ramos clash, the third installment of MVP's Most Valuable Prospects series will be showcased. The world title fight between Serrano and Ramos will consist of 12 three-minute rounds, equivalent to men's championship bouts.

Historically, women's championship fights have been contested as 10-round affairs, with each round lasting 2 minutes, as per the regulations of the Association of Boxing Commissions and Combative Sports.

The headline event of Most Valuable Prospects III will feature Antonio Vargas (16-1, 9 KOs) defending his WBA Continental Americas bantamweight title in a 10-round bout.

Serrano vs. Ramos aims to set a groundbreaking standard for women's boxing, one not witnessed since the Layla McCarter vs. Melissa Hernandez fight in 2007. This marks a significant milestone, with over 15 years having passed since women's boxing has seen a fight of the same duration as men's, with 12 rounds lasting 3 minutes each.

Ramos, the seasoned fighter hailing from Buenos Aires with roots in Sao Paulo, Brazil, was named the WBO mandatory challenger for Serrano’s featherweight world title. On August 18th, Ramos won the WBO interim-world featherweight championship via a split decision over Brenda Karen Carbajal in Buenos Aires who had held the belt since May 13th, 2022.
