Lawrence Okolie returns to the ring after his bout with Chris Billam-Smith, making a leap from cruiserweight to challenge Lukasz Rozanski for the WBC World Bridgerweight title in Poland, Rozanski's homeland. The thrilling match will be available for viewing live on Sky Sports and Peacock on Friday, May 24. Okolie, a former British, Commonwealth, European, and WBO World Cruiserweight champion, seeks to make history by conquering two weight divisions, facing the undefeated Rozanski in his own territory.
The seasoned fighter, who represented Team GB at the 2016 Rio Olympics, claimed his first world title in March 2021 with a knockout victory over Rozanski's compatriot, Krzysztof Glowacki. Transitioning to a weight class above 200lbs for the first time in his professional career, Okolie's return to the ring follows his majority decision loss against former stablemate Chris Billam-Smith in a memorable world title clash in May 2023 at the Vitality Stadium in Bournemouth.
Rozanski, known for his impressive record of 14 knockout victories out of 15 fights, will be bringing high-stakes boxing back to Rzeszow, having seized the WBC Bridgerweight belt with a dominating first-round stoppage against previously undefeated Alen Babic in front of his fervent supporters in April of the previous year.
