Rematch Between Taylor and Serrano Added to July 20th Card Featuring Paul vs. Tyson

In the highly anticipated rematch, Katie Taylor triumphed over Amanda Serrano in a split decision during their 2022 clash. Adding a touch of integrity to the upcoming July 20th Netflix event headlined by Jake Paul and Mike Tyson, MVP announced today that the co-main event will feature the rematch between undisputed super lightweight champion Katie Taylor and her rival Amanda Serrano.

Taylor (23-1, 6 KO) displayed sheer determination in their initial encounter in April 2022, securing a hard-fought split decision victory in what was hailed as one of the year's standout fights. Following their first bout, both fighters successfully defended their respective titles, with Taylor defeating Karen Elizabeth Carabajal and Serrano (46-2, 30 KO) overcoming Sarah Mahfoud. The agreement for a rematch was reached in May of the subsequent year.

However, Serrano had to withdraw from the scheduled rematch due to an undisclosed injury, leading Taylor to compete in the 140-pound division and engage in competitive bouts with Chantelle Cameron. Meanwhile, Serrano returned to the 126-pound division, securing victories against Erika Cruz, Heather Hardy, and Danila Ramos within a span of nine months.

Despite the delay, this rematch remains one of the most highly anticipated matchups in women's boxing. Although the absence of Croke Park and a reduction in rounds from 12x3 to 10x2 may disappoint some fans, the prospect of witnessing morally commendable action before the main event is indeed refreshing.
