Perla Bazaldua Joins Top Rank, Set for May 10 Debut

Perla Bazaldua, a 15-time national amateur champion from Los Angeles, has officially signed a long-term promotional deal with Top Rank. At just 19 years old, the rising junior bantamweight star follows in the footsteps of elite female boxers Mikaela Mayer and Seniesa Estrada as she aims to make her mark on the sport.

Bazaldua (1-0, 1 KO) is set to make her Top Rank debut on Saturday, May 10, in a four-round bout on the Emanuel Navarrete-Charly Suarez undercard in San Diego. She is co-managed by George Ruiz, who has guided Mayer’s career, and trained by Manny Robles, known for working with world champions like Andy Ruiz Jr. and Oscar Valdez.

A Rising Star in Women’s Boxing

“I’m honored to be part of the Top Rank family, and I can’t wait to get started,” said Bazaldua. “I want to inspire young women, especially from South Central Los Angeles, and show them that with discipline and hard work, dreams do come true.”

Top Rank Chairman Bob Arum sees big potential in her future. “George and Manny have an excellent eye for talent, and I look forward to working with them to develop Perla into a world champion and a superstar in the sport.”

Ruiz added, “Perla is special. She has incredible ring intelligence and a work ethic that signals a future world champion. It’s an honor to represent her alongside top fighters like Mikaela Mayer.”

A Boxing Family Legacy

Bazaldua has been training since she was nine, guided by her father, Crispin. Her brother, Criztec, is also a professional fighter with a 6-0 record at junior welterweight. Her impressive amateur career included a gold medal at the 2023 Youth Brandenburg Cup in Germany, and she has sparred with some of the best, including former undisputed champion Estrada.

She made an emphatic professional debut last December with a first-round stoppage victory over Mollie Backowski in Santa Ynez, California. Now, as she steps onto the big stage under Top Rank, Bazaldua is ready to take her career to the next level.

With talent, drive, and world-class mentorship, Perla Bazaldua is a name to watch in women’s boxing.
