Ryan Rozicki Promoter Claims Badou Jack Won't Last Against Young Power

WBC Orders Badou Jack to Defend Cruiserweight Title Against Ryan Rozicki

The World Boxing Council (WBC) has mandated that World Cruiserweight Champion Badou “The Ripper” Jack (20-1-1, 19 KOs) make his mandatory title defense against WBC No. 1 rated Ryan “The Bruiser” Rozicki (20-1-1, 19 KOs).

If the two camps fail to reach a deal, the WBC will hold a purse bid on February 4, with the fight required to take place within 60 days. Rozicki's promoter, Three Lions Promotions, has already made an offer to Team Jack to promote the fight in Canada.

“We’re waiting to hear their counteroffer,” said Dan Otter of Three Lions Promotions. “Ryan is leading the resurgence of boxing in Canada. He’s one of the hardest hitters in the cruiserweight division and wants the WBC belt to eventually unify the division.”

Rozicki, 29, hails from Sydney, Nova Scotia, and now resides in Hamilton, Ontario. He boasts a 95% KO rate, having stopped 19 of his 20 victories.

Jack, 41, is a three-division world champion with past titles in the super middleweight and light heavyweight divisions. He has been relatively inactive for two years, with only one fight during that period.

“We respect Jack, but he’s over 40 and hasn’t fought much recently,” Otter added. “He’s facing a young, powerful fighter, and I don’t think Jack will last beyond the first few rounds.”
