Pound for pound King Floyd Mayweather (45-0, 26 KO's) decided to wait until today, his birthday, to announce his next fight. After taking an entire month to decided between Marcos Maidana and Amir Khan, Mayweather has chosen the hard hitting Maidana as his next opponent. The deciding factor was that Maidana is coming off a huge upset victory over who many were calling Mayweather's protege, Adrien Broner. Maidana gave Broner all he could handle in their Decemeber bout, dropping him twice and getting the unanimous decision victory. It was all Mayweather needed to know in choosing him over Khan. The fight is going to be on May 3rd likely at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, although the Barclay's Center has been mentioned. Maidana brings in a record of 35-3, with 31 wins coming by way of knockout.
