It was a sad night filled with some great knockouts on the grand finale of ESPN's Friday Night Fights. The seventeen year series came to a close with some memorable highlights, flashbacks, and with fighter's and commentators saying their goodbyes both on the air and on Twitter.
In the co-main event in the Boxcino finals of junior middleweights we saw an insane upset as John Thompson, a late replacement to enter the tournament at the start, scored a TKO victory over heavy favorite Brandon Adams. Thompson, a +600 underdog, was able to withstand the attacks from Adams early. Adams was landing huge right hands in the first round coming in recklessly as he swung for the fences trying to get a KO victory. Thompson was down in the first round but it was a missed call by the referee as a punch didn't actually cause the knockdown. In the second round though, Adams was caught rushing in with some huge shots from Thompson. He was never able to recover, being dropped twice before the referee stopped the fight. Thompson improved to 17-1, 6 KO's. Adams fell to 17-2, 12 KO's.
In the main event, Andrey Fedosov (28-3, 23 KO's) scored a 8th round TKO victory over Donovan Dennis (12-2, 10 KO's) dropping him three times throughout the fight before final finishing him. Dennis had some success landing throughout the fight but Fedosov's pressure and power was to much for Dennis.
