At the end of 2013, and for the first month of 2014, Mikey Garcia (34-0, 28 KO's) was considered one of the hottest things in boxing. With defining victories building up and comparisons to the great Juan Manuel Marquez, the sky was the limit for the super featherweight fight who many were considered as one of the next big stars in boxing. Then, after defeating the tough Juan Carlos Burgos, Garcia vanished.
There was no clear reason why. Problems with promoter Bob Arum played a part along with Garcia's playful demeanor about retiring. His heart didn't seem to be in the sport. However in an interview with ESPN Deportes, brother and trainer Robert Garcia said that Mikey may be looking to get back into the ring sometime late this year. Garcia said that he's been training. Mikey also posted a photo on Instagram of him training with Robert. There is no set date or opponent yet.
