Leading up to yesterday afternoon's fight against Wilky Campfort, undefeated junior middleweight champion Jermall Charlo (23-0, 18 KO's) was contemplating moving up to the 160 division. He believed that his body was ready for the move stating that maybe he couldn't make 154 as easily as he used to. However, after his 4th round TKO victory over Campfort it seems as though Charlo had a change of heart.
"I'm going to stay right here at 154. This is my title and I'm going to defend it. I'm ready for anyone." Charlo assured.
The 154 division features fighters like Erislandy Lara, Demetrius Andrade, Austin Trout, Julian Williams, and even Miguel Cotto who is likely to go back to 154 following his loss to Canelo. Even Charlo's own brother Jermell is a top fighter in the division, though he said he never would fight him. The division has some key players in it making a move to 160 less likely at this time.
