Undefeated middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (33-0, 30 KO's) is looking to secure newly crowned fellow undefeated middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders (23-0, 12 KO's) for his return fight in April. Rumors were swirling that a "significant offer" had been made for Saunders to come over to the United States for fight Golovkin next. Saunders has been vocal about the offer stating that the money is a "substantial" amount but that he wanted more. He also wants Golovkin to fight over in the UK.
Despite Saunders' vocal attempts that basically state he's not going to fight Golovkin next, K2 Promoter Tom Loeffler still has high hopes. Loeffler told us he was unable to disclose the amount offered to Saunders at this time but stated that it was a very good amount of money and that he was still waiting for a response from Team Saunders.
The general belief is that Saunders doesn't want anything to do with Golovkin, as is the case with most fighters in the world today. It seems that whenever it comes down to fighting Golovkin, ridiculous offers are always asked for.
