Manny Pacquiao's one year lay off didn't effect him when it came to facing Lucas Matthysse last night in Malaysia. From the opening bell Pacquiao used his speed and power to control the action throughout the entire fight, dropping Matthysse twice, and eventually finishing him off in the 7th for a KO victory. It's Pacquiao's first knockout victory since 2009 when he obliterated a prime Ricky Hatton.
While Matthysse history of wars and suspect chin may have taking a toll on him over the years, it's still a good win for Pacquiao. After his controversial loss against Jeff Horn last year many questioned whether or not Pacquiao would ever return to the ring. In the fight against Horn, despite many people thinking he won, it appeared as though his fighting days were behind him. If nothing else, last night Pacquiao showed the world he still wants to fight and that he still has some speed and power to be a good fight for anyone at 147.
