Floyd Mayweather Jr vs. Victor Ortiz Exhibition Aug 24th in Mexico City

Floyd Mayweather Jr. (50-0, 27 KOs) is reportedly set to announce an exciting exhibition fight against Victor Ortiz. While Mayweather has not officially confirmed the matchup, he has hinted at a "big announcement" tomorrow with the hashtag #MayweatherMexico. The exhibition bout is expected to take place on August 24th at Plaza de Toros Mexico in Mexico City, the largest bullring in the world with a capacity of over 41,000 spectators.

Mayweather and Ortiz have a history, having previously faced off in September 2011. That fight ended in a fourth-round knockout victory for Mayweather, which remains one of his most controversial wins. After Ortiz was penalized for an illegal headbutt, he hugged Mayweather to apologize. As Ortiz released the hug, Mayweather landed a surprise punch, followed by another, leading to the knockout while Ortiz was looking toward the referee.

Despite retiring with a perfect 50-0 record after his win over Conor McGregor in 2017, Mayweather has continued to participate in exhibition matches. His opponents have included Japanese kickboxers and MMA fighters, YouTuber and WWE Superstar Logan Paul, and most recently, John Gotti III, grandson of the infamous mobster John Gotti.

Victor Ortiz, meanwhile, has been out of the boxing scene for the past few years. This exhibition fight offers an intriguing opportunity for both fighters to step back into the ring and entertain boxing fans worldwide.

Stay tuned for the official announcement and further details about this highly anticipated exhibition bout.
