Undefeated Albanian Heavyweight Nelson Hysa Set for Homecoming Bout Against Germany’s Thorsten Fuchs
Nelson Hysa, Albania's undefeated heavyweight sensation, is gearing up for a grand homecoming as he takes on Germany's Thorsten Fuchs in the 12-round main event for the vacant WBO European belt. The highly anticipated match will take place this Thursday, July 11, at Skanderbeg Square in Tirana, Albania.
The event, featuring both the main event and undercard fights, will be streamed live and exclusively in the U.S. on ESPN+, starting at 2 p.m. ET / 11 a.m. PT. Among the highlights of the undercard is the return of Top Rank-promoted junior welterweight prospect Hugo “The Fresh Prince of Monaco” Micallef, who will face Bogdan Draskovic in a six-round contest.
Hysa (17-0, 15 KOs), who began his professional career at the age of 37, made an impressive debut with a first-round stoppage over Stefan Cajic in May 2022. He continued his winning streak with a second-round knockout against the previously unbeaten Brayan Santander in April and followed it up with another victory against Colombia’s Jeison Troncoso in Switzerland. Fuchs (13-1, 10 KOs) rebounded from his first professional loss in February, a second-round TKO against Elvir Sendro, by securing three consecutive knockout wins, including a second-round triumph over Deibis Berrocal last month.
In the junior welterweight division, Hugo Micallef (9-0, 2 KOs) will look to extend his undefeated record. Micallef, who signed with Top Rank in 2021, is Monaco’s first professional boxer and a celebrated athlete in his homeland. He has showcased his talent across six countries: the United States, France, Spain, Germany, Italy, and Monaco. His opponent, Bogdan Draskovic (9-14-1, 5 KOs), enters the ring after a unanimous points victory over Miroslav Ivanovic last month.
