Golden Boy Promotions has confirmed that rising lightweight prospect Floyd Schofield will headline against seasoned veteran Rene Tellez Giron on November 2nd at The Theater at Virgin Hotels in Las Vegas. The event, which will air on DAZN, promises to be an exciting night of boxing action, featuring a compelling lineup of undercard bouts.
Schofield (17-0, 12 KOs), who hails from Austin, Texas, expressed his excitement for the upcoming fight. “I am beyond excited for my return to the ring as the official main event, and to show the world what I’ve been working on,” said Schofield. “My goal is simple – become a world champion. My opponent has faced some tough competition and will be looking to steal the show, but we won’t let that happen.”
Giron (16-2, 10 KOs), who has a reputation for upsetting the odds, remains confident ahead of the bout. “I’m so excited about this fight, like none other so far in my career,” Giron stated. “Floyd Schofield is just another big-name guy standing in my way to the top of the lightweight division.”
While fans may be disappointed that Schofield won’t be facing fellow rising star Ashton Sylve, the Giron matchup promises to be a tough and entertaining challenge for the undefeated prospect. Giron has built a reputation as a spoiler, capable of upsetting higher-ranked opponents, making this a test that could keep Schofield on his toes.
In the co-main event, super middleweight contender Bektemir Melikuziev (14-1, 10 KOs) will square off against David Stevens (14-1, 10 KOs) in a WBA title eliminator. Melikuziev, currently ranked 5th, is looking to solidify his position in the super middleweight division, while Stevens, ranked 9th, seeks to rebound from a tough loss to Joeshon James last year.
Adding to the excitement, an undisputed flyweight title fight between Gabriela Fundora (14-0, 6 KOs) and Gabriela Celeste Alaniz (15-1, 6 KOs) will also feature on the card. Both fighters are eager to prove themselves on a global stage.
Also on the undercard, Darrius Fulghum (12-0, 10 KOs) will face Christopher Pearson (17-4-1, 12 KOs), and rising prospect Joel Iriarte (4-0, 4 KOs) will compete in a six-round bout against an opponent yet to be determined.
This action-packed event promises to deliver fireworks, with some of boxing’s top up-and-comers looking to make their mark. Be sure to tune in on November 2nd to catch all the action live on DAZN.
