Abner Mares (25-0-1, 13 KO's) is wasting no time moving up to the featherweight division as he has signed to fight WBC champion Daniel Ponce De Leon (44-4, 35 KO's). The fight is expected to be the toughest fight of Mares's career and his first at featherweight. De Leon's four losses can be decieving considering they have all come to extremely talented fighters such as Adrien Broner and Yuriorkis Gamboa. Mares looks to join the list of elite fighters that have taken down De Leon. Should he succeed, he will only move up in his respeceted P4P rankings, and perhaps finally secure a fight with the winner of Donaire-Rigondeaux.
