In a report by ESPN, Richard Schaefer said that he was interested in making a fight between Golden Boy's number one heavyweight prospect Deontay Wilder (27-0, 27 KO's) and the tough Tony Thompson (37-3 25 KO's). Thompson is recently coming off one of the biggest wins of his career after knocking out England's top heavyweight sensations David Price. Wilder, the 6'7 Golden Boy knockout artist, has often been critisized for cruising his way through the heavyweight ranks with easy opponents. A shot at Thompson would surely silence alot of the critics and perhaps put Wilder into the mix to take some bigger fights, perhaps even a shot at the long time champion Wladimir Klitchsko. Another interesting twist to a Wilder-Thompson showdown is that Golden Boy may be interested in showing the fight on CBS in an attempt to start drawing fans back to boxing.
