VALLEY FORGE, PA (August 19, 2013)—This Friday night, “Under the Radar” Lightweight prospect Frankie De Alba will meet Miguel Rodriguez in a six round bout which will serve as one of the co-feature bouts at the Valley Forge Casino Resort.
In the main event, undefeated Naim Nelson (10-0, 1 KO) of Philadelphia defends the Pennsylvania Lightweight title against Ryan Belasco (18-5-3, 3 KO’s) of Wilmington, Delaware.
In an eight round Heavyweight bout, WBA #13 ranked Travis Kauffman (24-1, 18 KO’s) battles Arron Lyons (12-12-1, 9 KO’s)
De Alba of Reading, PA has a record of 8-1-2, with three knockouts and has won six in a row and has not been defeated since his pro debut.
De Alba has been chomping at the bit to get back in the ring.
“I feel more than ready. I have been in the gym and staying busy and am anxious to show my ability”, said De Alba.
“I know Rodriguez has been in with tough opponents and he will be tough”.
De Alba was originally scheduled to fight Osnel Charles but when Charles pulled out, it was just a bit of an inconvenience for De Alba.
“The change of opponents distracted me a little bit. I had a plan for Charles but I am ready for anybody”.
De Alba, who had a brief yet undefeated (10-0) amateur career, is expecting his second baby in the next month.
He works at a foundry (Manual Labor) for nine hours a day before hitting the gym.
“I am ready to fight anybody they put in front of me”.
De Alba was born in Bayamon, Puerto Rico and is influenced by Miguel Cotto.
In addition to the three featured bouts, the rest of the card is as follows (all four round bouts):
Kamarah Pasley (6-6, 2 KO’s) of Philadelphia will take on an opponent to be named in a Cruiserweight bout.
Damon Allen (2-0, 1 KO) of Philadelphia battles Samuel Quinones (2-1, 1 KO) of York, PA in a Lightweight bout.
Khalib Whitmore (1-0) of Philadelphia takes on Richard McCombs (1-4, 1 KO) of Washington, DC in a Light Heavyweight bout.
Miguel Cartagena (7-0, 3 KO’s) of Philadelphia boxes Eduardo Melendez (4-13, 1 KO) of San Isabel, Puerto Rico in a Bantamweight bout.
