Adamek and Dargan headline NBC sports show

VERONA, NY - An exciting pair of fights will be broadcast on network TV by NBC, Saturday afternoon, November 16th, from the Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, NY. The old school afternoon offering pits two battle-tested heavyweights with reputations for delivering high-action performances. Tomasz Adamek and Czar Glazkov meet in the 10-round crossroads main event. An interesting 8-round fight between undefeated rising lightweights Karl Dargan and Michael Brooks fills out the coveted co-feature slot. The NBC Fight Night broadcast will begin at 2:30PM ET.

Former two-time world champion, Tomasz "Goral" Adamek, 49-2, 29 KOs, is still going strong after 14 years in the ring, and again finds himself just one impressive win away from another shot at the world heavyweight championship. Polish-born Adamek never disappoints boxing fans with his heavy hands, granite chin and insatiable thirst for battle. Before he can return to a world title fight, Tomasz must first handle Glazkov, a younger fighter who intends to end his storied run.

Adamek has other ideas, "Glazkov knows that sparring with me is totally different than fighting me. I know he wants to replace me, but I worked too hard, it will not happen."

On the other side of the ring, rising young gun, Vyacheslav "Czar" Glazkov, 15-0-1, 11 KOs, is ready to topple his seasoned foe in his own march toward a heavyweight title opportunity. Czar has displayed plenty of punching power and is confident that he can defeat the former champ.

Said Glazkov, "I've been training very hard for this bout and definitely know it won't be easy because Adamek is a very skillful and tough veteran. As an upcoming prospect I will do whatever it takes and fight til the end to win this fight." He added, "I understand this win would open a gate for me into deep waters of the heavyweight division. This is important and I don't intend to waste this opportunity."

The heavyweight division has started to come back to life over the last couple years and this matchup has the potential to be the most exciting of the bunch. "We know this will be a straightforward battle between two pros who pack a punch and never take a step backwards. Glazkov has the better knockout credentials, but Adamek's world-class experience cannot be underestimated," said Kathy Duva of Main Events.

The NBC Fight Night boxing series has always been a proving ground for rising young talent eager to make a name for themselves. This is certainly the case with the hotly anticipated 8-round lightweight contest that hits the airwaves just before Adamek-Glazkov goes live. In their first taste of national TV exposure, Karl Dargan and Michael Brooks are ready to place the boxing world on notice that they are the next big thing at 135. However, only one fighter can advance.

Philly's Karl "Dynamite" Dargan, 13-0, 7 KOs, was a celebrated amateur who has been coming into his own as a professional. He has easily handled each of his assignments since his first pro start in 2007, and never looked better than in his most recent time out. He'll look to impress again, this time before more than a million boxing fans watching on NBC.

Long Island lefty Michael Brooks, 10-0-1, 2 KOs, displays a confidence that was built on life lessons he learned both in and out of the ring. Brooks, who works with disadvantaged kids, once said in an interview that he feels destined to become a lightweight Rocky Marciano. If Brooks is right, Dargan may be in trouble on November 16th.

The sought-after co-feature spot on NBC's afternoon Fight Night broadcasts has proven to be a launching pad for lesser known prospects. Just one year ago, a then-unknown Czar Glazkov burst onto the scene with a showy TKO against Tor Hamer in the 8-round opening bout on the Adamek-Cunningham NBC card. In the Fury-Cunningham opener in April, Curtis Stevens decisioned Derrick Findley giving him the exposure he needed to secure a high-profile fight with middleweight king Gennady "GGG" Golovkin.

Speaking of this tremendous opportunity for Dargan and Brooks, promoter Kathy Duva said, "We really enjoy the opportunity that we have on these NBC broadcast shows to expose young fighters to a much larger audience than would typically see their fights at this stage of their careers. I can't wait to see what these undefeated boxers will show the world on November 16th."

No matter who comes out on top in the two terrific bouts scheduled for November 16th, it is a sure bet that the biggest winners on November 16th will be the boxing fans watching, both at ringside and at home on NBC.
