Golden Boy Inks Will Tomlinson

LOS ANGELES (Dec. 25) - Golden Boy Promotions' international expansion continues with the signing of Australian super featherweight star "Wild" Will Tomlinson to a five-fight promotional deal.

"Golden Boy is the big leagues of boxing and I'm very excited to be a part of the team," said the unbeaten Tomlinson, who has moved to Los Angeles for his pursuit of the biggest fights possible in the 130-pound weight class. "I believe 2014 is going to be a big year for me, and with Golden Boy in my corner, the sky's the limit."

"Will Tomlinson has paid his dues on the Australian circuit and he's ready for the international stage," said Richard Schaefer, CEO of Golden Boy Promotions. "He's one of the top super featherweights in the world and he's got all the tools to be a superstar in this sport. The fans here in the States will enjoy watching him fight for sure."

A native of Sydney, the 27-year-old Tomlinson (21-0-1, 12 KO's) was an amateur standout who competed in the 2007 World Championships before turning pro in July of 2008. Winner of several pro titles, including the Australian, New South Wales State, WBO Asia Pacific, WBO Oriental, and IBO Inter-Continental belts, Tomlinson won the vacant IBO super featherweight crown in November of 2011 by defeating Alan Herrera. He has successfully defended the title three times, most recently decisioning Malcolm Klassen on May 16, 2013.

Tomlinson is currently ranked fifth in the world by the IBF, eighth by the WBC and 15th by the WBO.  His Golden Boy Promotions debut will be announced at a later date.
