Floyd Mayweather Jr. outlined his future stating that September 12th will be his last fight. Showtime Sports Executive Vice President and General Manager, Stephen Espinoza, restated that Mayweather will fight on September 12 against an opponent to be named for a final time. Also that his final fight in September will fulfills the final fight on his Showtime contract. “Floyd has not wavered at all; he has consistently said, including today, he intends to fight again on September 12, and that will be the final fight of his career,” Espinoza said. “As an executive and more importantly a fan, we would hate to see him go, given the types of performances he’s delivered for us in the past few fights but he certainly contributed a lot to the fight in the last 19 years and if September is in fact his last fight then I think boxing owes him a debt of gratitude for what he’s done in the sport over almost two decades.”. Saul "Canelo" Alvarez also stated that September 12th is his return date. Canelo's possible opponent will be Miguel Cotto. If you remember this was the same situation leading up to the Mayweather vs Pacquiao fight on May 2nd.
