The hard hitting fan favorite Argentinian Lucas Matthysse (37-3, 34 KO's) could be on his way to having two fight of the year candidates in 2015. Earlier this week there was talk that Golden Boy and Top Rank were thinking about throwing two of of their most exciting fighter's into the squared circle to face each other. Matthysse could end up facing the tough Mexican brawler Brandon Rios (33-2-1, 24 KO's) later this year according to Bob Arum via FightHub.
Both Lucas Matthysse and Brandon Rios are no strangers to leading the bids for Fight of the Year. Matthysse won most Fight of the Year awards last year with his epic fight against John Molina, where both fighter's tasted the canvas in a brutal war. In 2012, Brandon Rios and Mike Alvarado won the award on numerous outlets, only being trumped by Pacquiao-Marquez IV on the media outlets that it didn't win on. Matthysse also finds himself leading the votes so far in 2015 where him and Ruslan Provodnikov fought a bloody twelve round war that many deem the 2015 Fight of the Year to date. Though no negotiations are officially taking place as of yet, both Golden Boy and Top Rank are very interested in making Matthysse-Rios a reality, which many would expect to be another epic toe to toe war.
