Jermall Charlo’s trainer Ronnie Shields told USA TODAY Sports that Charlo vs Cornelius Bundrage for the IBF junior middleweight title is ON! The fight will take place on July 25, part of Premier Boxing Champions, venue & network (TBA).
“We’re very confident, but K9 is a good fighter so we have to train hard and be ready for it,” Shields said. “We love it.”
Bundrage (34-5, 19 KOs) won the title when he stopped Cory Spinks in the seventh round back in June 2012. He lost the belt later when Ishe Smith outpointed him over 12 rounds. Bundrage was able to get the belt back last October when he won by decision vs Carlos Molina who defeated Smith over 12 rounds.
Charlo, still undefeated hasn’t faced elite level fighter yet. He last fought in March when he outpointed Michael Finney over 10 rounds @ the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas.
