Artur Beterbiev injured - out of fight

Artur Beterbiev was scheduled to fight on Nov. 28th on Showtime for a title eliminator that would set up a fight to face Sergey Kovalev (28-0-1, 25 KOs). A shoulder injury during training has forced Artur Beterbiev to pull out. His promoter was currently setting up a fight with Igor Mikhalkin (17-1, 9 KOs). This also forced him out of the spot for the title eliminator altogether. The bout was part of the James DeGale (21-1, 14 KOs) vs. Lucian Bute (32-2, 25 KOs) event.

"I am extremely frustrated and disappointed by the situation," Beterbiev said. "I was preparing myself hard to give another great show to the fans Nov. 28, but I will be back stronger in 2016."

After a clinical evaluation a physician has determined that Artur Beterbiev, need minor surgery to his right shoulder. He is expected to make a full recovery and get back into the ring in 2016.

The main event is still on featuring James DeGale against Lucian Bute and co-featuring Isaac Chilemba vs Eleider Alvarez.
