Luis Ortiz (23-0, 20KOs) vs Bryant Jennings (19-1, 10KOs) is heading to Turning Stone Casino in Verona, New York. The fight will be featured on HBO boxing on Dec 19th. Oritz will be defending his WBA “interim” heavyweight title that he just won, the bout is scheduled for 12 rounds of boxing. Also former featherweight champion Nicholas Walters will fight Jason Sosa in the co-feature.
Luis Ortiz, who tested positive for the anabolic steroid nandrolone after a 2014 win over Lateef Kayode recently defeated Matias Ariel Vidondo to obtain WBA World heavyweight title scoring a 3RD KO. Vidondo was down once in rounds two and three during the fight. Ortiz started his pro boxing career in 2010 and has fought a total of 89 rounds to date. This is a quick title bout for the recent champion who is taking on a really tough opponent.
Bryant Jennings is coming off a BIG fight against Wladimir Klitschko where he lost by a 12 RD UD. Jennings gave Klitschko one of his hardest fights in the past 10 years. Jennings is a small heavyweight who moves a lot in the ring. This will be a very interesting fight for both fighters. If Jennings can win the title this will open to bigger fighters in 2016.
