Undefeated WBC lightweight champion, Mikey Garcia will take on Sergey Lipinets February 10th @ Alamodome, San Antonio, Texas, USA. The main event will air live on Showtime boxing. Also on the telecast a rematch between Rances Barthelemy and Kiryl Relikh for the vacant WBA super lightweight championship.
Mikey Garcia was last seen in action this past summer against Adrien Broner. Garcia defeated Broner by a 12 round UD, scores, Don Ackerman 116-112 | Eric Marlinski 117-111 | Steve Weisfeld 116-112. Garcia moved up from 135 pounds to 140 for the fight and will remain at the 140 class for the time.
Sergey Lipinets defeated Japan’s Akihiro Kondo by unanimous decision on November 4th at Barclays Center to win the IBF 140-pound championship. He sports an 77% knockout ratio with every fight ending in a KO in 2016. He already fought twice in 2017 and is on track to make another active year in 2018. “Getting the title is one thing, but keeping the title is a more difficult task,” Lipinets said.
