Tevin Farmer finalizes deal to make first world title defense on Oct. 20 against Northern Ireland's James Tennyson

Super featherweight world titleholder Tevin Farmer has finalized a deal to make his first title defense on Oct. 20 against Northern Ireland's James Tennyson at TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts, on the undercard of the fight between middleweight world titlist Billy Joe Saunders and mandatory challenger Demetrius Andrade.

Farmer (26-4-1, 5 KOs), 28, of Philadelphia, is returning to the ring after winning a vacant 130-pound world title by beating former featherweight world titleholder Billy Dib by dominant unanimous decision against Billy Dib in Dib's backyard in Sydney, Australia, on Aug. 3.

Tennyson (22-2, 18 KO's), 25, has won six consecutive fights since suffering a fifth-round knockout loss at the hands of Ryan Walsh in April 2016. His other loss also came by way of knockout when he was stopped in the second round by Pavels Senkovs in an October 2013 bout. At the time, Senkovs, a Latvia native residing in the United Kingdom, had a record of 2-64-5. However, Tennyson is coming off a KO win of his own after stopping the previously undefeated Martin Ward on May 5 to snag the European title.

The jam-packed card will also include a featherweight world title elimination fight between Kid Galahad and Toka Kahn Clary, with the winner earning the right to become the mandatory challenger for undefeated IBF world champion Josh Warrington, who is coming off the biggest win of his professional career, a split decision triumph over former titlist Lee Selby in May.

Also, England's Scott Quigg (34-2-2, 25 KO's), 29, of England, a former junior featherweight titlist will return on the undercard against an undetermined opponent following a brutal decision loss to unbeaten WBO world titlist Oscar Valdez on March 10. Quigg, who failed to make weight and was thus unable to win the title, suffered a broken nose and suffered a nasty cut by the left eye. Valdez, like his opponent, also sustained his fair share of injuries, including a fractured jaw, a broken nose, cuts, and swelling on his forehead.
