Jermall Charlo pleads his case: Missed the test; I didn't fail!

As previously reported by FightNights.com, the Charlo twins, interim middleweight titleholder Jermall (27-0, 21 KO's), and super welterweight titlist Jermell (31-0, 15 KO's) were among those who missed their WBC random drug tests.

The tests were scheduled either from Oct. 1 to Nov. 20 according to the latest report.

The timing of the news has left fans and other industry experts feeling a little more than skeptical.

The twins are scheduled to co-headline the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on Dec. 22. The younger Charlo is set to defend his 154-pound title belt against Tony Harrison, while the elder Charlo, who won a coin flip to decide which brother would host the main event, will defend his interim belt against Willie Monroe Jr.

Jermall, who is older than Jermell by a minute, broke his social media silence to blast his critics.

"Missed the Test not Failed you idiots," Charlo said. "It's Random and wbc program or Whoever they are Randomly chose a day we were out of town doing promotional stuff on Fox for the Next fight. Get ya facts straight. I like I said Haters must Hate it's the Job!!"

Charlo is correct on one point. It is impossible to fail the test if you do not show up to be tested. That much is true. On the other hand, VADA is very flexible. According to industry sources, if you are not in the gym or at home, they will call and email the fighter, as well as their contact person.

Jermell, albeit, remains uncharacteristically silent on the matter, merely retweeting his older brother, and a fan who gave his support.

According to Michael Benson of talkSPORT, the Charlos were reportedly fined an undisclosed amount by the WBC. Moreover, the sanctioning body will impose stronger punishments for the same infraction beginning in 2019.

A lot of questions still remain.
