Showtime Sports will formally announce on tonight’s tripleheader telecast that Tim Tszyu, the undefeated top-ranked junior middleweight, will return to the ring to defend his WBO Interim-super welterweight title against Carlos Ocampo in the main event of a Showtime International Boxing doubleheader, being televised on Saturday, June 17 (Sunday, June 18 in Australia).
Tszyu, the son of boxing legend Kostya Tszyu, dominated former world champion Tony Harrison to win the interim title in March. The 27-year-old Ocampo has 22 KOs in 34 wins, with his only losses coming against Errol Spence Jr. and Sebastian Fundora.
The two-fight Showtime telecast airs live at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT from Gold Coast Convention Centre in Queensland, Australia and also features a battle of undefeated 122-pound contenders as veteran Ra’eese Aleem takes on Australia’s Sam Goodman in an IBF super bantamweight world title eliminator in the event’s co-feature.
The Showtime announce team will call the fights remotely from CBS studios in New York City.
Tonight’s Showtime tripleheader kicks off at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT and features hard-hitting Rolando “Rolly’’ Romero battling No. 1 Contender Ismael Barroso for the vacant WBA super lightweight world title in the main event from The Chelsea inside The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas in an event presented by Premier Boxing Champions.
